How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

• DuraFlex SW gas inserts: pilot assembly carbon buildup. The SW series runs a standing pilot that sits exposed to Queens’ coastal humidity six months a year. That moisture mixes with dust and produces a hard white crust on the pilot orifice. We see this in Flushing co-ops built in the 1980s more than anywhere else. Our fix: remove and ultrasonic-clean the pilot assembly, check the thermopile output in millivolts, and replace only if the reading drops below 325 mV.
